GENEVA/BANGKOK (2 October 2019) – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet will conduct an official visit to Malaysia between 4 and 5 October, at the invitation of the Government. The visit is the first ever by a UN Human Rights Chief to the country.
During her visit, Bachelet is scheduled to meet Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad and other high-level Government officials as well as the national human rights institution, SUHAKAM, civil society organisations, the National Bar Association and the UN and diplomatic community. The High Commissioner is also due to visit an alternative learning centre for refugees, the Rohingya Integrated School of Excellence, in Kajan, Selangor.
At the end of her visit, High Commissioner Bachelet will hold a press conference at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on 5 October 2019 at 14:40hs.
