GENEVA (1 October 2019) – The UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED) is meeting in Geneva from 30 September to 11 October 2019 to review Bolivia and Slovakia.

The Committee, which is composed of 10 international independent human rights experts, monitors implementation of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance. The above States are among the 60 that have ratified the Convention and so are required to submit a report for review by the Committee.

The meetings will take place in the Salle XVII, Palais des Nations, Geneva, and the complete schedule of meetings is available on-line.

Committee members will discuss a range of issues relating to implementation of the Convention with the respective State delegations, and also hear from NGOs and national human rights institutions.

The recommended hashtag for the meetings will be #CED17 and the sessions will also be webcast live at http://webtv.un.org/live/.

More information is available on the Committee’s Web page for the session. Further information is also available regarding media accreditation.

The Committee is scheduled to publish its findings here on 14 October 2019.
